Motorcycle Maintenance commences with Kangan Institute, Docklands. 8 evenings. Details. A "wish list" is handed out to each participant at the beginning of the first night asking for any and all topics that you would like to cover in the course. The lists are discussed and finalised, then the rest of the classes are tailored to be as much "hands on" as possible. By the end of the course it is expected that all participants can carry out a full service on a motorcycle.

The Laverda Club’s annual Boggy Creek Rally, Boggy Creek Pub, Curdie Vale.

Always a big turnout from the MGCoV. This year some of us may have lunch at the new brewery at Forrest (03-5236 6170), which is supposed to be fantastic.

The Boggy Creek Pub has five rooms which are always booked early, but most Guzzisti camp on the lawn overlooking the river. The publican loves us because we all eat there and generally buy up a storm. Fantastic blues band last year.

And next morning we have a cooked brekky put on by the Laverda Club, at a modest price to cover costs, and we ride home as a motley bunch. All are welcome to join us.

Autobella 2012: showcases all Italian cars. The Fiat Car Club runs this annual event at Como Park, South Yarra. All Italian bikes/scooters are invited, and plates for your bike stands will be provided in case of soft ground. From 10am.

At the committee meeting Marc “Robbo” Robinson brought to our attention this event that Martin Harvey is organizing. It includes a display of various bikes & his leathers and special deals on those for club members from CIMMA, MGCoV, MPMC, etc. Then a ride around the Peninsula stopping for a proper lunch before returning to Martin’s place for a gymkhana of some sort in club teams appropriately dressed for the part (Rob McHugh?)

It’s set down for the 19th February but I don’t have many details to tell you exactly what the plan is.

Z1 40th Anniversary Rally, Riddells Creek. Details.

Commemorating the 40 years since the intro of the 900. This rally will feature replica machines from both Mad Max and Stone…the final crash scene of Mad Max was filmed just outside of Riddells Creek. Not to mention many other bikes, including a 1969 Triumph. If anyone has ANY machine from the 70's or period Kwackas then you'd be welcome for the whole rally (if interested), or come along just on the Saturday. I have it on good authority that the organisers are going to a bit of trouble for this one.

National Ducati Clubs Rally, The Station Resort, Jindabyne, NSW. A relaxed weekend of sweeping country roads and good company. All riders of all Italian marques are especially welcome. It's not a 'Ducati only' rally, so bring your Italian beauty along! Details.

Another Ride day at Sandown!

Ride Tek MTA is running another ride day at Sandown Park in Melbourne. The previous event was a well-organized and fun day at the track (for road bikes & riders only) that saw a large contingent of MGCoV members take part. Ask any of them who participated how much they enjoyed the day!

Mel is usually able to arrange for some well-known race rider/s to be present on the day to conduct clinics on cornering, braking & lead and follow analysis of your riding style. You will definitely benefit from your time on the track which consists of at least 4 sessions x 20 minutes in three skill level groupings. Great value. Full leathers are preferred but quality textiles with armour are also acceptable. You ride entirely at your own risk and sign a waiver to that effect before getting on the track. Professional race marshals and paramedics are also present.

Mel Baker has asked me to convey to the MGCoV membership (and friends of) an offer of a 10% discount if you book and pay by January31st. He also wishes to thank the club for its active support in establishing the viability of the ride days with dB testing last year and looks forward to seeing as many Guzzis as possible take part again. Members who assisted with the dB testing but couldn’t be at the previous ride day are still able to take part in this day free of charge by way of thanks. The cost for all others on the day is $250 minus your 10% discount for early confirmation. Lunch and refreshments are included.

The cabins and rooms at the Bridge Hotel have been tentatively booked; camping, firewood & coffee is free at the club gazebo on the river flat.

The World may end, but old bikes go on forever. Due to popular demand the British Motorcycle Club of Tasmania is again conducting the third Tassie Tour Vintage/Classic Motorcycle Rally around Tasmania from the 17th - 28th March, 2013.

Open to all pre-1965 motorcycles, we will enjoy 11 nights 12 days of some of the best motorcycle roads and scenery in the country. For those that have attended this fantastic rally there will be some new roads and things to see plus some favourite roads from the past rallies. Numbers will be limited to 100 bikes. Details.
