Jan:   Moto Guzzi Range Revamped For 2012

Moto Guzzi are (sic) refreshing their 2012 range with a host of all-new models, new colours, technical updates and relaunches.

The V7 range benefits from a new engine and a completely new model line-up for this year. The Stelvio and the Griso SE boast all new 2012 colour options. Plus the Moto Guzzi Bellagio is back! This is just the start for Moto Guzzi in 2012. This year will see the launch of some all-new key models, taking the brand to new segments and new riders.

New 2012 V7 range

The new V7 features a new engine, larger fuel tank, full style redesign and a new model line-up. Moto Guzzi’s legendary ‘seven and a half’ will be available to buy in March in these three versions:

·       V7 Stone - classic style, upright bars, cast alloy wheels. Available in black or white - £6,628 OTR

·       V7 Special – upright bars, aluminium rim wire wheels & retro two-tone paint - £6,928 OTR

·       V7 Racer - the high spec racer version with clip-ons, aluminium rim wire wheels, adjustable suspension, chrome tank & red frame - £7,928 OTR

The Moto Guzzi 750cc twin-cylinder engine has undergone a full reengineering, inside and out.

·       The manifolds have been replaced by a single Y manifold which links to a single Magneti Marelli MIU3G 38mm throttle body. The new motor features two lambda probes, plus a new head with larger intake ducts, a centrally repositioned spark plug hole and a more modern plug with 10mm threading and a prominent electrode.

·       Power and torque have been boosted, fuel consumption and emissions have been improved and as a result riding pleasure has been enhanced. Compared with the previous engine, the new single-feed model provides more than 10% extra power and – most importantly – 10% more torque.

·       Changes to the Moto Guzzi V7 range go way beyond more power and torque. The V7 benefits from a whole host of improvements, making the V7 more practical, more fun to ride and cheaper to run:

·       Improved fuel economy – thanks to the more efficient 2012 engine.

·       Improved tank range – thanks to a new metal tank that now holds 22 litres - up from 17.5 litres, despite being lighter.

·       Better handling – lighter wheels (both the cast and new aluminium rim wire spoke versions) and Pirelli Sport Demon tyres (standard across the range) give quicker steering and better grip.

·       Smoother gear change - a new pre-selector makes shifts more precise, smooth and quiet.

New colours for the Moto Guzzi Stelvio range

The Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX is now available in an Amazon Green colour scheme, alongside the existing matt black option. The standard Stelvio is now available in burnt orange, as well as black or white.

The Stelvio & Stelvio NTX underwent a major update in 2011 putting it at the forefront of the competitive adventure touring segment. The Stelvio now features a huge 32-litre fuel tank, new fairings for better protection & stability and advanced engine tweaks to improve throttle response, midrange power delivery and fuel consumption. Traction control and ABS come as standard. The adventure-ready Stelvio NTX is £11,978 OTR, while the standard Stelvio is £10,778 OTR.

New Moto Guzzi Griso Special Edition

The Moto Guzzi Griso SE now comes in a new-for- 2012 ‘Black Devil’ scheme, comprising of a black and gunmetal paintjob and subtle red detailing. The new 2012 Griso SE is £9,928 OTR. The standard Griso – available in white or black – is £9,578 OTR.

The Moto Guzzi Bellagio is back!

Due to popular demand, The Moto Guzzi Bellagio is being reintroduced in the UK market. The Bellagio sport cruiser has always been a popular model worldwide - it’s the Italian take on the traditional all American custom.

It has good ground clearance, because an Italian cruiser needs to tackle the twisties, not just arrow-straight highways. The much-praised 940cc v- twin engine is smooth, powerful and features CARC shaft drive and a responsive six-speed transmission.

The Bellagio also features adjustable suspension, spoked wheels and a meaty chromed exhaust system, with a spine tingling exhaust note emphasising the impressive power of the engine. Its low two-up saddle, forward-mounted footrests and spectacular drag strip handlebars give total control and a unique riding experience.

We’ve heard that only 10 will be coming to Oz:

Nov 08, 2011:  The Piaggio Group main new products at EICMA 2011

At EICMA 2011, in a world preview for all its brands, the Piaggio Group, the leading European manufacturer and a global player on the two-wheeler market, is showcasing an extensive series of exceptional new motorbikes and scooters.

New products or major upgrades are being presented for almost all the Piaggio Group brands: brands with a fascinating history like Vespa and Moto Guzzi, with a dynamic young appeal like Derbi and Gilera, with a successful racing track-record like Aprilia, as well as names that have always played an important role in everyday mobility like Piaggio and Scarabeo.

V7 - V7 Special - V7 Racer

The new Moto Guzzi V7 is now available in three models, two tourers and a racer: the V7 (a classic motorcycle), the V7 Special (for upmarket tourism and speed enthusiasts) and the V7 Racer (the highly advanced racing version). Three new bikes delivering greater power and speed, but all based on the fully re-engineered 90° V-twin engine, with cardan-shaft transmission and double cradle frame.

Nevada

The new Moto Guzzi Nevada, powered by the new 750 two-cylinder, is a unique bike that retains the characteristic custom design with low saddle and wide handlebars, but features a less laid-back riding position for greater control. With its more dynamic sporty style, the Nevada Anniversario has an eye-catching contemporary look to give the Mandello sport custom bike an even brawnier and more rebellious personality.

A new Moto Guzzi engine

The Guzzi 750 two-cylinder on the new V7 and Nevada series has been fully re-engineered. Power and torque have been boosted, fuel consumption and emissions have been reduced, and riding pleasure has been enhanced. Compared with the previous engine, the new single-feed model provides more than 10% extra power and, above all, torque, with further reductions in fuel consumption and emissions.

Moto Guzzi World Club News, August:

The Moto Guzzi 1200 SPORT 4V Corsa is available since June at the pricelist cost of Euro 12.620 OTR, in his new two-tone red & white paint job completing the 1200 Sport 4V range, which is available in silver or black.

This special edition is powered by a 1151cc V90 8v engine, delivering 105 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 77 lb.ft.(105Nm) of torque.  The Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport 4V is part of the Breva/Norge family and although it has a decidedly sports type set-up, it is also an excellent tourer.

The Corsa dressing up reminds the colours of the successful bikes of the years beetween the First and the Second World War, with the classic red base in contrast with the white back end of the tank and of the tail, with the gold details and the seat cover with tail tidy with number plate. Apart from the new look, the main innovation is the red covering of the saddle.

Moto Guzzi is in the news in a critical moment for the motor-cycle sector that is going on for years, and where only a few can boast no losses of the production, falls in sales and profits.

One of the few having comforting signals is Moto Guzzi. The Italian company for the first time after 4 years, received from national dealers the request for increasing the production in order to satisfy the growing demand of the last period.

The Moto Guzzi strategy, through the last models as the Stelvio 1200 8V/Ntx and the Norge GT 8V is therefore giving the first positive results.

Mauro Castelli of Fiom Cigl craft union confirms the news coming from Moto Guzzi: "Even though the two wheel market is still in the doldrums and the production of all the other motor-cycle companies is in 6% loss, the productivity of Moto Guzzi during March and April last is ok and increasing.”

A shot in the arm that fuels the hopes for a concrete recovery of all the segment.  The uptrend of the beginning of the spring seems to be consolidated also in the data of the first half of the year.

How shall we put it? Life begins at 90.

MGCoV Wings and Wheels Ride, August 2011.

As a continuation of Moto Guzzi 90th Anniversary activities the Moto Guzzi Owner's Club of Victoria (MGCOV) celebrated Guzzi's aeronautical heritage with the Wings and Wheels ride to the Old Aeroplane Company at Tyabb, Victoria.

Established to preserve and restore significant military aircraft the Old Aeroplane Company is custodian of, amongst others, examples of the iconic World War II P51-D Mustang and P40-F Warhawk fighter aircraft.  Their dedication extends to restoring and rebuilding the hangars in which Mustangs were built at Fisherman's Bend, hangars in which their aircraft collection at Tyabb is now housed.

Linking this heritage with the airforce background of Moto Guzzi's founders (Guzzi, Parodi and Ravelli served in the Italian Air Force in World War I) the MGCoV conducted their 'Wings and Wheels' ride on August 28th.  Starting in perfect riding weather from suburban Oakleigh the ride tackled the challenge of Arthur's Seat before heading to Flinders via the scenic splendour of Cape Schanck.  Pausing to restore caffeine levels in Flinders the group of twenty six riders and sundry pillions headed north through Merricks before descending on the waiting barbecue at the Old Aeroplane Company.  Once replete the group enjoyed the privilege of a guided tour of the restoration shop and hangar where the discussions ranged from the relative merits of Packard Merlin v Rolls Royce Merlin to the arcana of the application of Bernoulli's Equation in the context of a Pitot Tube to the practical impracticality of maintaining polished aluminium or doped fabric flight surfaces.  As a great finish to the day permission given to photograph two of the new Guzzi V7 Racers in close formation with a stunning Harvard Trainer.

Thanks to Judy and Rick of the Old Aeroplane Company for their generosity and thanks the the riders who made the day such a great event.
